The Love Of My Life Hip Hop

We grew up in Chicago in the 1980's. A magical time it was looking back, playing 2 hand tag in the street and bike riding to the corner store and of course watching Turbo and Ozone in "Breakin" and trying to mimic the moves like the epic Turbo Broom Stick dance outside the bodega (classic). My older brother eventually taught me about hip hop through NWA then came Rakim, Deathrow, Common, Cypress Hill, De La Soul, EPMD, LL Cool J, D.I.T.C., Onyx, Public Enemy, Redman, Goodie Mob, Boot Camp Click, Wu Tang, OGC, Outkast, The Pharcyde, Jeru The Damaja, Fat Joe, Gang Starr, Nas, Jay-Z, ok you get it the list can go on forever of my Hip Hop idols from that era. I was a young adolescent just trying to find myself and who i was and i truly believe and feel that hip hop molded me and spoke to me and reached me like no one or nothing ever could. I was never alone because i always had hip hop, when i was sad i turned to hip hop, when i was mad i turned to hip hop, when i was happy and joyous i was bumping hip hop. Hip hop welcomed all who loved her and didn't discriminate. I happily spent most of my money on Hip hop (the days when you actually bought albums). There are many hip hop songs that are from the past that i can hear now and i have a distinct memory or person connected to that song. There are some songs that i hear (new and old) that will make the hairs on my arms stand up. I guess what i'm trying to say and i know many out there feel the same way is that Hip Hop is the Love Of My Life, and though many people will come and go throughout my life's journey i know for certain that Hip Hop will always be there for me through any and everything.

ONE LOVE
